Title: Hidden Histories: Mushrooms and the Legacy of Land Use in the Little Lakes
The forests of the Little Lakes hold stories that stretch back centuries, and mushrooms are among their most revealing storytellers. In this talk, I weave together the history and ecology of the region to explore how past land use and forest management continue to shape the fungi we find today. Drawing on years of fieldwork, I'll share some of the beautiful, strange, and unexpected mushrooms I've encountered while exploring these forests, and show how they offer a fascinating window into the landscape's past.
